English Premier League: Arsenal FC vs. Liverpool FC
August 25, 2015
London’s Arsenal FC hosted Northern side Liverpool FC at Emirates Stadium last night, for a match that although remained goalless to the end, still reminded why the English Premiership is still one of the most exciting soccer leagues in the world.
The visitors from Liverpool are continuing their loss-free start of the season, while Arsenal came into the match with 1 loss and 1 win.
Liverpool pretty much dominated the first half of the match, with Arsenal’s back being put to the test too many times. Notably with Christian Benteke and Phillippe Coutinho creating many problems for Arsenal’s back.
After half time however, Arsenal came back with a vengeance, and dominated much of the entire second half, and although not created many chances, Aaron Ramsey and Alexis Sanchez did produce impressive strikes to challenge Liverpool’s keeper Simon Mignolet.
By the amount and quality of chances created, this match should have ended with at least several goals scored. However, Arsenal’s new goalkeeper Petr Cech, who moved from London-rival Chelsea FC to Arsenal this season, came to the rescue with amazing goalkeeping; saving what appeared to be a sure score from Betneke, and extending an arm to brush a ball from Coutinho to hit the post.
Although these are early days for the English Premier League with only 3 weeks played so far, these early games are sure a preview on what’s in store for the season.
