Shay Facey had signed a deal with Manchester City FC, and will not return to NYCFC next season.
English Premier League Club Manchester City FC, sister club of MLS expansion side NYCFC announced today the signing of a new contract with centerback Shay Facey, who came from Manchester City’s development squad and was on loan with New York City FC for the club’s Major League Soccer debut season.
20 year-old, Manchester-born Facey joined the Manchester City youth system in 2007 and has progressed in the academy. He was vice-captain for the MCFC U21 Elite Development Squad in 2013-14 and was nominated for the U21 player of the year. He also played for the England Youth National teams.
Facey played with New York City FC in its first Major League Soccer Season, and made 23 appearances while on loan to the expansion team.
Shay Facey returned to Manchester and signed a contract with Manchester City FC until 2018. He is unlikely to return to the MLS next season.
He said today: “thanks to everybody that contributed and was part of getting me to where I am today with Manchester City, I am very happy to have signed a new deal with the club I have now been part of for 11 years. I’m looking forward to taking that next step up the ladder and excited for the next chapter to come.”
