Montreal Impact vs. Chicago Fire – Game Preview
Saturday, September 5th, Stade Saputo, Montreal. 8:00 p.m.
Montreal Impact host Chicago Fire, with both sides having a hard run throughout the MLS season, and playoff positions for both are less than certain.
Hosts Montreal are currently ranked seventh in Major League Soccer’s Eastern Conference (8-11-4), tied at 28 points with number eight NYCFC. Montreal’s 2-1 loss at Toronto FC last week has shown a disorganized team that lacked discipline and methodology.
Following this loss, Impact’s Coach Frank Klopas was dismissed and replaced by Mauro Biello. This was Toronto’s third loss in a row.
Chicago Fire are ranked ninth in the MLS Eastern Conference (7-13-6) and are tied at 27 points with last place Philadelphia Union. Chicago’s las game ended with a 1-1 draw at Orlando City last Saturday.
Although previous to that the Fire marked an impressive 3-2 home win against MLS powerhouse New York Red Bulls, the team still stays winless on the road. Chicago is the only team in Major League Soccer this season with no away wins.
The teams are meeting for the second time this MLS season, with Chicago Fire winning 3-1 at Toyota Park on May 30th.
