Seattle Sounders vs. Toronto FC
Hosts Seattle Sounders were in full attacking form again, with Obafemi Martins and Clint Dempsey up front. Very different than visitors Toronto FC who were missing many of their key players – namely Sebastian Giovinco, Jozy Altidore, Collen Warner, Benoit Cheyrou, and Justin Morrow.
Seattle felt a lot more comfortable on the pitch last night, producing 11 shots (compared to Toronto’s 8), of which 9 were on target (compared to Toronto’s 4).
Toronto’s goalkeeper Chris Konopka did come to the rescue many at times with 7 saves, and Toronto’s defense produced an impressive 20 clearances. But even the 1 goal scored wasn’t enough to salvage Toronto from what was expected to be Seattle’s night at home.
Seattle started with an early lead with Clint Dempsey assisting Obafemi Martins to beat two of Toronto’s defenders and score from the center his 11th goal this season (6’).

Toronto did manage to come with a reply on the second half, with Ashton Morgan sending a cross to former Sounders’ player Eriq Zavaleta who headed in the equalizer (59’).

Seattle got their winning goal when Obafemi Martins again launched an attack and ran passed Toronto’s defense. Toronto’s keeper Konopka produced a save, but did not manage to contain the ball, as it flicked out of his hands to be found by Clint Dempsey who scored the winner (77’).

The Sounders will travel to San Jose to face the Earthquakes next Saturday, while Toronto will host New England Revolution at home next Sunday.
