New York Red Bulls vs. Philadelphia Union – Game Preview

One of the last matches of this Major League Soccer season between two sides from the top and bottom of the MLS Eastern Conference.

Hosts New York Red Bulls, sitting at top of the MLS Eastern Conference with 54 points (16-10-6) have been the first Major League Soccer team to clinch a Playoff sport this season.

This past Wednesday’s 2-1 loss at Toronto FC ended the Red Bulls 2-game winning run.

Visitors Philadelphia Union are ranked ninth in Major League Soccer’s Eastern Conference with 30 points (8-18-6) and have been eliminated from the MLS playoff race with their last match, which was a 3-1 loss at Toronto FC on October 3^rd.

This is the third meeting of the teams this MLS season, with the Union winning at Red Bull Arena in May, followed by New York winning 3-1 at Philadelphia in August.

Another notable faceoff between the two took place in July at the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup semi-finals.  Where the two teams drew 1-1, for Philadelphia to lose the penalty shootout.
