FC Dallas vs. Seattle Sounders – Playoff Semifinals (Leg 2) Game Preview
Sunday, Nov. 8th, 7:00 p.m. ET. Toyota Stadium, Frisco, TX.
These two Major League Soccer Western sides meet for the second round of the MLS Audi Cup semifinals, where hosts FC Dallas are facing a tall challenge, with visitors Sounders having won the previous round by 2-1 at Seattle on the first leg this past Sunday.
FC Dallas is a very young team, with an average age of under 25 (compared to Seattle’s 29), and has been arguably playing their best MLS regular season to date. Dallas’s squad aspires to top its 2006 achievement that won Major League Soccer’s Western Conference.
Despite losing to Seattle on the first leg, Dallas are still coming into this round with momentum, as they were undefeated in October, with the only game not to be won was a draw with Vancouver Whitecaps, who Dallas then went on to beat on the following week.
On the final day of the 2015 Major League Soccer regular season, FC Dallas won San Jose Earthquakes 2-1 and shattered the Quakes MLS Playoff hopes.
However, FC Dallas will now have to beat the fierce Seattle Sounders. Not an easy task by any means, especially not with Seattle’s home crowd at CenturyLink Field.
Seattle had a bit of a rocky MLS season in 2015, and didn’t cruise into the playoffs as they usually do. However they finished the regular Major League Soccer season with a bang, went undefeated through October, won Real Salt Lake on the last day.
Getting into the MLS Western Playoffs, Seattle have beaten LA Galaxy 3-2 on the first round, and moved on to win FC Dallas by 2-1 on the first leg of the MLS Audi Cup Semifinals.
Prior to the first leg of the playoffs, the teams met twice in the MLS regular season, with a 0-0 draw at Dallas in March, and a 3-0 home win to Seattle in June.
