Montreal Impact vs. Columbus Crew – Playoff Game Preview

Another faceoff between two of dominant teams Major League Soccer’s Playoff Eastern Semifinals first leg of the goal-aggregate, 2-game series.
Canadian side Montreal Impact host Ohio rivals Columbus Crew SC, for what is expected to be a showdown between two stars: Impact’s Didier Drogba and Crew’s Kei Kamara.
Ex English Premier Chelsea FC star Didier Drogba arrived at Montreal in the middle of this Major League Soccer season, and already scored 12 goals in 11 games.
Drogba and his Impact teammates will compete against Crew’s Kei Kamara, who is tied with 22 goals this MLS season for the league’s Golden Boot for top scorer.
This past MLS season, Montreal ended the regular Major League Soccer season in third place with 51 points (15-13-6) and Columbus Crew at second place in the MLS Eastern Conference with 53 points (15-11-8).
In the two regular MLS season meetings between the teams, Montreal won 2-1 away in June and 3-0 at home in July.
Hosts Montreal Impact are coming on the back of a grand 3-0 win over Canadian rivals Toronto TFC in the MLS playoff knockout stage, while visitors Columbus Crew crushed D.C. united with a 5-0 victory on their last game of the regular MLS season.
This will be the first of two meetings on aggregate goal between the teams, where the where the Crew will host the Impact for second leg of the series on the following Sunday, November 8th.
