New England Revolution vs. Orlando City SC – Game Preview
Saturday, September 5th, Gillette Stadium, Foxborough, MA. 7:30 p.m. ET
Week 27 of Major League Soccer’s 2015 season is set to provide several exciting soccer matches. Although late in the season, teams are still fighting for either securing their current playoff positon, or trying to salvage last chances to reach the playoffs.
New England Revolution host MLS expansion side Orlando City SC. The hosts are ranked fifth in Major League Soccer’s Eastern Conference (10-9-7) and are tied with number fours Toronto FC at 37 points.
The Revolutions’ last 1-0 victory at Philadelphia Union caps a 5-game run without a loss, 4 of which were wins. It follows a more turbulent time of a 5 losses.
Visitors Orlando City SC are ranked just below New England, with 29 points (7-12-8). Although just above the red line now, all is still at risk for Orlando, as Montreal Impact and NYCFC are trailing behind at positions seventh and eighth with 28 points.
After a 1-1 draw with the Chicago Fire at home last Saturday, Orlando is extending its 5-game winless streak.
This will be the second time in history for both sides to meet, with the previous meeting at Orlando’s Citrus Bowl on May 8th ending in a 2-2 draw.
