New York Red Bulls vs. Chicago Fire – Game Preview

September 11th, Red Bull Area, Harrison, NJ. 7:00 p.m. ET

Hosts New York Red Bulls are now second in Major League Soccer’s Eastern Conference (13-10-5) and at 42 points are trailing two points behind conference leaders D.C. United.

The Red Bulls are coming on the back of a 3-2 home win over conference leaders and arch rivals D.C. United.

Struggling visitors Chicago Fire are at the bottom of the MLS Eastern Conference (7-14-6), with 27 points, Chicago currently has the fewest points in Major League Soccer.

Fire are coming on the back of a 4-3 loss at Montreal Impact, however the team did hold its own on the MLS debut night of international football legend Didier Drogba.

The road has not been kind to Chicago Fire lately, as the team has not registered even one away-win this entire MLS season.  Their 21-game winless streak is tied second in Major League Soccer history.

The last time Chicago Fire won at Red Bull Area was 2012.

The two teams are meeting for the second time this season.  Interestingly enough, their last meeting on August 26th ended at a 3-2 home win for Chicago at Toyota Park.
