There is nothing to write home (or online really) about a goalless season opener for two teams that seemed matched in the uninspiring game they played last night.  So the Lions may take some positive note about the defense that did look alright, and for opportunities created, which were a bit more than Real’s.  And Salt Lake can perhaps say that they got a point on the road, but again – this was uninspiring soccer on both ends.

Hopefully some star power on both sides will bring more mojo into both sides’ next games.  With Orlando’s striker Nani who was out on suspension this match, and Salt Lake’s Italy international Giuseppe Rossi who signed with Real on Thursday, and came on in the 79th minute.

Orlando City are travelling to Colorado to face the Rapids on Saturday, March 7th, and Real Salt Lake will host the New York Red Bulls on the same day.
