Seattle Sounders vs. LA Galaxy – Game Preview

Hosts Seattle Sounders have been undefeated for the entire month of September, starting with a 2-1 home win over Toronto FC, onto a 1-1 draw at San Jose Earthquakes, through a 3-0 win at Vancouver Whitecaps, and last with another 1-1 draw at Sporting Kansas City this past Sunday.
Seattle are ranked fourth in the MLS Western Conference with 46 points (14-13-4), with only one point separating either way between the Sounders and third-placed Dallas FC (47) and Sporting Kansas City who are ranked fifth (45).
LA Galaxy had just put an end to their longest goalless run in the club’s 20-year history (over 290 minutes of play without scoring any goals). Starting September with a 0-0 draw at home with Montreal Impact, on to 3-0 loss at Real Salt Lake, and finishing with a 3-2 win at home over FC Dallas this past Sunday.
Galaxy are still sitting at top of Major League Soccer’s Western Conference table, with 50 points (14-9-8).
The teams already met two times this MLS season, with LA Galaxy winning both of the previous matches at StubHub Center, 1-0 and 3-1 in April and August respectively.
Sounders’ Obafemi Martins scored 14 goals this MLS season, and Clint Dempsey 8. Galaxy’s Robbie Keane scored 16, and Sebastian Lletget 7.
Seattle has not won at LA Galaxy since 2009, with 11 winless trips to Galaxy so far.
