Colorado Rapids vs. D.C. United – Game Preview

September 12th, Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, Commerce City, CO. 9:00 p.m. ET

Yet another East-meets-West fame I the late MLS 2015 season.  With two sides that are not only in different conferences, but in very different positions within their respective table.

Hosts Colorado Rapids are ranked ninth in the MLS Western conference (8-10-9) with 33 points.  However, the Rapids were on a good run recently, where Wednesday’s 2-0 loss at Vancouver Whitecaps cut a three-game winning streak.

Visitors D.C. United just fell from first to second place in Major League Soccer’s Eastern Conference, in light of New York Red Bull’s 3-2 win last night over Chicago Fire.  At 44 points, D.C. united are trailing behind New York by a single point.  So a win tonight can bring it back to the top of the table.

D.C. United has seen its fair share of trouble lately, with their recent 3-0 away loss to arch-rivals New York Red Bulls marks their third consecutive loss.

This will be the teams’ first meeting this MLS season, where the single meeting in the previous season ended in a 4-2 home win for D.C. United last August.
